I thought the stairs thing was weird, but I guess we all think our various Fibromyalgia symptoms are weird until we realize others have them, too. I'd like to understand better why my brain has these odd glitches at the worst possible time - when using stairs. I also did some investigation with regard to Chronic Lyme and the FMS connection, but hit a bit of a wall on that for the time being. I can only hope that more is learned about these health problems.Benia Zourashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16471714153669700511noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2087417885885130489.post-50013339239690364072013-04-09T20:04:50.501-05:002013-04-09T20:04:50.501-05:00Everything you have discussed I experience. Hope it goes well for you, since that means leaving things alone for 5 years. I had a lot of annoying spotting and little, random cramps and pains the first couple months, but it seems to finally be settling in now.

I forgot to mention in my post that I have a fibroid in the uterus wall, but it seems stable and is behaving. My ultrasound and 1 month check-up went well. The doctor said any discomfort with Mirena should only improve with time.Benia Zourashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16471714153669700511noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2087417885885130489.post-65023538144647495882013-03-26T14:51:12.753-05:002013-03-26T14:51:12.753-05:00I just had the Mirena implant. no one told me tha...I just had the Mirena implant. no one told me that you should have it during or after your period. Ob/gyn said you can do it any time during your cycle but after your period is best. problem #1. dr found that I have a
Stenotic Cervix so they had to dialate cervix and uterus. extreme pain. finally over and I checked out. by time I got to the elevator I was sweating and could not make it to the car fast enough. There I turned up the radio so loud so people could not hear the screams as I was experiencing full labor contractions. Tried throwing up but just dry heaves. after 10 minutes passed I was able to slowly get back into the doctors office and they watched me for the next hour and gave me motrin. Dr asked me if I wanted to take implant out. I told him I wanted to wait because it might just be my fibromyalgia responding to procedure. after an hour I went back to work and had bad cramping for two days but continued to work.CHRISTINEnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2087417885885130489.post-24048103894830042102013-03-08T07:26:58.106-06:002013-03-08T07:26:58.106-06:00Kind of ironic., I've been collecting frogs fo...Kind of ironic., I've been collecting frogs for years. I believe that if a patient is switching from one drug in either of these classes to another, and they are already on the full dosage, they should simply move right to the full dose of Savella or the new SSRI/SNRI drug. I believe the lowered dosage period during the transition is completely unnecessary.

The only time I would recommend using lower doses is when coming completely off drugs in this class, or when starting fresh from no drugs in this class, since the body cannot handle the abrupt chemical changes that would arise.

I hope Savella helps you. I had a horrible experience on it and am happy to be off all SSRIs/SNRIs now.Benia Zourashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16471714153669700511noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2087417885885130489.post-49251990493087352102013-01-20T22:41:02.156-06:002013-01-20T22:41:02.156-06:00Glad to read this blog. This Friday, I went from 75MG to 0...and it's not been fun. I'm doing this so I can titrate up to a full dose of Savella. My rheumatologist felt savella would treat the pain from fibro better than the effexor. I wish I'd known about how bad the symptoms of 'discontinuation effects' would be. Severe vertigo-like dizziness, horrid headaches, shakes and loss of appetite, difficult time concentrating, nausea diarrhea, extreme fatigue, feeling like I'm going to pass out, and the worst are the big brain zaps where you get electric shock shot through your body. to top it all off, my fibromyalgia is not being controlled by any medicine as I do the taper off and then taper up to this savella so I'm hurting more than usual. does anybody have any tips on how to make this withdrawal and easier process. I'm trying to finish a thesis so I can graduate and this is hindering my ability to complete my research on time and find a job.Jennhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11573217319991115921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2087417885885130489.post-2949446553593576082012-12-07T19:27:06.849-06:002012-12-07T19:27:06.849-06:00I think it's helped me to deal with my parents...I think it's helped me to deal with my parents and other family members to find a really fine therapist with whom I was able to work over several years. Just thought I'd my put info on here...Hi There. Just thought I'd my put info on here for you. I was on Cymbalta and last time I weaned off I developed Fibro. GO Figure. So having had Savella in adbundance leftover from my doc's idea of trying that before ending back on Cymbalta, I decided to use Savella to wena off Cymbalta (because that is WAY more horrific to wean off.) However, after extensive research I began taking amino acids and malic acid with magnesium supplements before the whole weaning process. I eliminated refined sugar, using agave in my coffee in stead, coconut/almond milk for coffee too. Eliminated alcohol. Changed to meat and veggies only food, snd even sleep with one pillow instead of my usual two pillows at night. (natural not processed foods with chemicals or alterations) and so far my fibro symptoms have been reduced by 80%. Now I know its not that way for all but Ive tried so many other things since 2005 before fully understanding SNRI's and SSRI's and my disgestive tract and my central nervous system, I also learned about finding the causes of - instead of treating - the symptoms of fibro and so far (God willing) this seems to be the right path for me. I saved the titration packs the doc gave me so perhaps you can get some sample packs from a doc and see about using those to "titrate down"?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2087417885885130489.post-69682065571006195182012-06-25T09:44:18.656-05:002012-06-25T09:44:18.656-05:00It turned out to be that way for me!It turned out to be that way for me!Benia Zourashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16471714153669700511noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2087417885885130489.post-7862825384363395112012-06-24T13:57:42.416-05:002012-06-24T13:57:42.416-05:00Savella is Satans revenge.STAY OFF ITSavella is Satans revenge.STAY OFF ITAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2087417885885130489.post-46474087825177325002012-06-20T11:27:06.496-05:002012-06-20T11:27:06.496-05:00I thought I read somewhere that trials for Savella...I thought I read somewhere that trials for Savella were only for a short time, so long-term effects were not known for approval. Although I initially thought it was helpful (after I got over my nightmare with quitting Pristiq to start the Savella), after just six months, I started spiraling with side effects. To be fair, I had the Sinex complicating things for me, but I didn't feel nearly as well as I do today, now that I'm off Savella as well as many of the other drugs and supplements I've been taking for Fibro. Today I just take one medication for Fibro - Cyclobenzaprint (generic Flexeril) - which helps with reducing muscle spasms and its side effect of drowsiness is helping me sleep. (I only take it at night.) I have decided that drugs cause more problems than they solve, especially the newer ones, and I don't trust in the medical community nearly as much as I used to. I am my own advocate and no one will be more motivated to help me feel better than ME!

Take care and I wish you luck in weaning off and hopefully staying off with fewer symptoms!Benia Zourashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16471714153669700511noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2087417885885130489.post-18028115536332514682012-06-20T09:56:56.223-05:002012-06-20T09:56:56.223-05:00I have decided to do the same thing. I've decided to continue the morning dose but cut the evening dose to every other day for two weeks, then I would like to cut all evening doses. I'm hoping to then cut the morning doses to every other day for two weeks and then just twice a week until off completely. I'm really scared of the side affects, I have no more sick time left at work. But I figured if I am in pain constantly on or off the pills why take them? I have been very depressed and crazy violent thoughts. I want off these pills and just deal with the pain.
